VFN surgeons are preparing for war attacks
Regular exercises to activate the trauma plan, complete international internships in the field of traumatology and disaster medicine or licensed courses DTSC (Definitive Trauma Surgery Care) and ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support), which are necessary for the correct solution of mass disasters. This is how the doctors of the 1st Surgical Clinic of the General University Hospital in Prague (VFN) and the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University (1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University) prepare for possible war attacks, terrorist acts and other humanitarian disasters. An integral part of the preparations is also the regular participation of traumatologists in foreign missions, where they operate on the wounded directly in places of conflict and gather the necessary experience..
"Unfortunately, violence is on the rise not only in distant countries and continents, but also in Europe. And given the current situation in Ukraine, it is clear that any disaster or terrorist attack can happen in our country as well. It is therefore very important that we are prepared. We organize various exercises at our clinic, we cooperate at the international level with a number of countries, such as Germany or Israel, which has extensive experience with war conflicts. All our traumatologists have completed a number of internships, a DTSC or ATLS course ensuring uniform access to patients in serious conditions and after injuries, we even provide training to members of the Rapid Deployment Department and we try to educate our young doctors according to international standards, " stated by the head of the 1st Surgical Clinic of the General Hospital and the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University, prof. MUDr. Zdenek Krska, DrSc. with the fact that VFN is, thanks to the long-term work of the clinic, very well prepared for the possible treatment of a larger number of patients after a mass accident.
