Project implementer: IV. VFN internal clinic in Prague
Project Registration Number: CZ.31.8.0/0.0/0.0/24_118/0010233

Project brief:

The project is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the colorectal cancer screening center at IV. VFN internal clinic in Prague. The need for higher efficiency results from the society-wide demand for a greater number of screening colonoscopies performed. It is intended for patients indicated for screening colonoscopy and the goal is to achieve a greater number of screening colonoscopies performed.

The acquisition of three high-resolution video colonoscopes will increase the capacity of the center's 2 endoscopic examination rooms, primarily by shortening the time between individual examinations. Furthermore, it will enable examinations with the most modern high-resolution devices and improve follow-up therapeutic procedures.

The project is primarily aimed at patients from the VFN catchment area (Prague and adjacent areas of the Central Bohemian Region), but if interested, it is also open to patients from the entire Czech Republic. The project is part of a society-wide program to reduce the burden of oncological diseases.

The project will thus contribute to reducing the number of patients who become ill with colon cancer. The number of patients who require both surgical and oncological treatment of this tumor will decrease, and the number of patients who are diagnosed only at an advanced stage of colon cancer will also decrease. In this way, we will contribute to the society-wide program to reduce the burden of cancer on the population.

The project budget is a total of CZK 2,578,268, of which CZK 2,000,000 will be financed through the National Recovery Plan and CZK 578,268 from the VFN Prague's own resources.

The project is co-financed by the European Union from the funds of the Recovery and Resilience Instrument (RRF) through the National Recovery Plan of the Czech Republic from call No. 11 SUPPORT AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF PREVENTIVE SCREENING PROGRAMS II – COLORECTAL CANCER (component 6. 2 of the National Plan for Strengthening Oncology Prevention and Care) .
