Andrej Babiš and Adam Vojtěch visited VFN
On Friday 11 October 2019, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Minister Adam Vojtěch visited the General University Hospital in Prague. They discussed with the hospital management the ongoing construction of a new emergency income, the current unsatisfactory condition of selected buildings and the necessary future investments. The new Emergency Income Building will be the first new building in the General Teaching Hospital since 1976.
The General Teaching Hospital in Prague is one of the largest and most important medical facilities in the Czech Republic. The hospital will commemorate the 230th anniversary of its establishment next year and thus manage eighteenth-century buildings; The last new building in the General Teaching Hospital remembers the year 1976 when the building of the Urology Clinic in Ke Karlovu Street was built.
Building urgent income is one of the key priorities for the General Teaching Hospital. This is also due to the importance of the hospital in the acute care system in Prague and the Central Bohemian region (for example, the General Teaching Hospital is a key part of coronary care). The costs of this construction will be covered by a grant from the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic in the amount of CZK 285.5 million, of which CZK 85 million is the hospital's own resources. At present, construction work is underway in the existing pavilions. The cornerstone of the new pavilion will be laid in the summer of 2020 and the emergency reception will welcome the first patients during 2022.
