A new intensive metabolic care unit
New intensive care unit rooms with state-of-the-art equipment, unique adjustable beds with a load capacity of up to 500 kilograms for extremely obese patients or a special ceiling lifting system for handling immobile patients. At the VFN, we completed the reconstruction of the intensive metabolic care unit and the first part of the XXL center on inpatient ward III. internal clinics - endocrinology and metabolism clinics of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of the UK and VFN for almost 100 million crowns. The new workplaces will increase the comfort of patients from all over the Czech Republic, significantly facilitate the work of health professionals and can be an example of how to centralize care for extremely obese patients.
The complete renovation of the premises took about one year and required an investment of 60 million crowns, of which 54 million were European subsidies. The instrumentation cost 39 million crowns. All rooms in the metabolic intensive care unit are new, and modern medical ramps with oxygen, air and other equipment have been installed throughout the department. The new monitoring system makes it possible to monitor the patient's vital functions, and the infusion technique has also received innovation. The department is equipped with adjustable beds. Four of them serve patients in a more serious clinical condition and with failing vital functions, the other three beds are intended for patients with less serious illnesses. Contactless opening of doors to patients' rooms significantly reduces the risk of transmission of hospital infections.
A bariatric room with two adjustable beds with a load capacity of 500 kg is connected to the premises of the new JIMP in the inpatient department. It is equipped with a unique ceiling lifting system, which makes it easier for health workers to handle immobile patients weighing up to 300 kilograms, their movements and transfers to the bathroom. With bariatric rooms, VFN once again expanded the possibilities of care for immobile and extremely obese patients throughout the Czech Republic. In addition to the XXL ambulance, VFN workplaces will gradually be equipped with operating tables and dental chairs with a higher load capacity. Special diagnostic equipment such as endoscopes, CT and magnetic resonance imaging are also necessary for the care of extremely obese patients.
