New rehabilitation center at the VFN!

The Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic of the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and the General Hospital has opened barrier-free spaces for XXL patients, cancer patients, seniors and active athletes.
The 17 million CZK reconstruction offers a new variable barrier-free space with a multifunctional gym and modern equipment for specific diagnoses. Physiotherapists, occupational therapists and doctors will take care of XXL patients, cancer patients, seniors and active athletes. The Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and the General Hospital of Prague is thus responding to the increasing number of obese patients and people of older age who require very specific treatment procedures. "The new modern, barrier-free spaces of the rehabilitation clinic on the 3rd internal ward are the next step in the development of our hospital, on which we have been working intensively for several years," says the director of the VFN, Prof. David Feltl, and adds: "Thanks to positive management, we are gradually modernizing clinics and departments so that we can create a dignified and comfortable environment for patients and hospital employees that is consistent with the top-notch care of our healthcare facility."
The reconstruction took place in just 8 months
The work on the premises, where the last modifications – the installation of a bathtub for full-body hydrotherapy – took place in the 1990s, is divided into two stages. The first lasted 8 months and included a complete reconstruction including the replacement of windows, new electrical wiring, the construction of an air-conditioning unit, sanitary facilities and other necessary equipment. The result is new modern premises for the rehabilitation department. In April, the renovation of the basement spaces will begin, including the construction of so-called English courtyards (cellar skylights). This stage will last approximately two months"The newly renovated premises offer staff and patients comfort in modern design and equipment," Jiří Pala, Technical and Operational Deputy of the General Hospital, evaluates the result of the work and explains: "The seventeen million crowns reconstruction was conceived from the beginning as the next step in care for obese and immobile patients. The space is barrier-free, with a spacious elevator and in the immediate vicinity of our hospital's XXL center."
