Renewal of the VFN fleet: a new XXL ambulance
VFN has long been among the pioneers in the care of patients weighing over 200 or even 250 kilograms. It offers the necessary teamwork of a number of specialties, such as internists, surgeons, endocrinologists, nutritionists, physiotherapists and others. It is therefore included among the healthcare facilities involved in building a network of XXL centers. They need specially equipped surgeries, operating theaters, special beds, adapted instruments, examination devices. One of the steps that contribute to simplifying the availability of care for extremely obese patients is the new XXL ambulance that VFN purchased. With its equipment, such as electro-hydraulic stretchers with a load capacity of up to 300 kilograms, stair climbers, as well as limb vacuum mattresses, heart rhythm stimulators and other devices, it is directly intended for the transport of these patients. The XXL ambulance is built on a VW Transporter 6.1 chassis with a 2.0 TDI 200 hp engine, 4×4 drive with electronic differential lock. One of the conditions was for the ambulance to cope in the most demanding conditions, and it succeeded.
VFN electromobility continues
The General University Hospital in Prague purchased two new electric vans of category N1 in December last year and five transport ambulances in DRNR mode in August this year to start the renewal of its vehicle fleet. At least six more electric vehicles in the N1 category are planned to be purchased as part of the SFŽP subsidy at the end of this year and to continue in 2023. The investment will definitely pay off, as the hospital will save on expensive repairs, fuel and servicing.
